Our Story

How We Got Here

Our story begins with…

Joyful Homecare was established on the basis of a belief that people with serious medical or cognitive impairment who need someone to provide care for them deserve the best quality of care possible. We have dedicated ourselves to bringing joy and grace into the lives of individuals who are suffering difficult life circumstances and to bringing the relief of excellent care solution to their family members. This quality of care we believe can only be provided by persons who regard caring for others to be a source of joy and self fulfillment.

Jocelyn (Joy) Tepait provided loving care to her patients and close and encouraging supervision to her staff for over 20 years. Joy considers caring for others to be apostolic work and strives to bring her spiritual strength, tireless dedication and positive outlook to her work each and every day.  Joy grew up on the island of Cebu in the Philippines. She studied at Velez College of Nursing and graduated at Cebu City Medical Center with an RN. Joy obtained a Comprehensive Nurse designation in New Zealand. She was recruited to work as a nurse in Aseer Central Hospital Abha in Saudi Arabia. After several years she was promoted to Charge Nurse and Nurse Supervisor at Majardah General Hospital . Joy eventually decided to move to Canada and settled in the GTA where she obtained an RPN designation. Joy initially found work as a caregiver but it did not take long for her talents to be recognized and she was soon promoted to Supervisor, training and supervising care staff. Joy then assumed more responsibility becoming Nurse Manager, managing not only all care staff but client relationships, and performing administrative duties. Along the way Joy worked as an Interim Director of Care in a large elderly residence. Joy has decided to partner with a like minded person to bring the best care possible to her patients. She is now Executive Director of Care and part owner of Joyful Homecare.

After 20+ years in the business world providing services and advice to so many as a Human Resources Director and owner of a HR consulting company, and after personal experience with home health care service providers, Alan Boucher decided he wanted to do what he believed was more important work; that is, helping people with serious care needs. He now has 12+ years in the home care business continually striving to provide the best possible service quality. Alan believes that calls and emails from clients should be answered in minutes, not hours or days, and that supervisors should actually supervise care and never turn a blind eye. Most of all Alan believes that if a caregiver can not provide care with a smile in the  sincere belief that there is nothing more important than their patient’s well being and happiness then they should find another career. At Joyful Homecare, the patient will always come first.
